"Update Apple ID Settings" message

I just got an iPhone XR five days ago and since then this message appeared and it's not going away.


I get this notification that says "Update Apple ID Settings: Some account services will not be available until you sign in again". So I go to the settings app, open up the message, it asks me for my password, I type it in and it doesn't do anything. It just goes back to message (the password is right, btw. I just used it to log in here).


Can someone please help me? What is happening there? Feels like some is not working properly. Should I return the phone to the store?

Some people have fixed this by signing out of iCloud, restarting their device, and then logging back in. That hasn't worked for everyone.
