Cannot view email without double clicking.
i read previous post about this issue but i do not see any gray dot on the bottom of window. Can someone help me to clarify this?

Depends on your layout, but hover over edge (bottom/right) of window until you see single-direction arrow. Click and drag up or left until pane opens.
View menu has setting for right/bottom view pane.

Very old versions of Mail had the Viewing pane on the bottom. The Classic Layout of newer versions of Mail also had the viewing pane on the bottom. Those both had dots at the bottom.
The Catalina version of Mail has no dot and the pane can be on the bottom or right side of the screen.
Thank you, problem solved but i found this single-direction arrow on right (vertical) side of the window not on the bottom. Thank you for good tip because i was not sure what i was looking for.
