Changing Region Without Losing Apple Music Library

I am an international student that has moved from South Africa to the United Kingdom. As I am now living in the UK. I would like to change my App Store region to match this. However, from my understanding this would mean cancelling my Apple Music subscription first, which would result in me losing my library and personal playlists, is there any way to avoid this occurring? I do understand that the fundamental content of Apple Music does that change dramatically between regions and I will, therefore, be able to access the same music as I currently do. This does that answer to the fact that I will have to rebuild my personal library and playlist. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello nicholasfowler,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are wanting to change your Apple ID location from South Africa to the United Kingdom, however you have some questions about what would happen to your Apple Music content. I can help provide further clarification about this process.

Before you change your country or region, you do need to cancel any active subscriptions such as Apple Music, then wait for the subscription to expire:

The Apple Music catalog can vary by location. Sync Library (also known as iCloud Music Library), is the feature that stores and syncs your Apple Music content such as playlists across devices. It is specific to the country or region where the library was created using Apple Music, and your current music library would not be available if you start an Apple Music subscription in a different country or region. There is not a way to carry over your current library in this scenario. You can view more information here:

If you'd like to provide feedback to Apple about this feature, you can do so by visiting the following link:

Take care.
