Re Deleting programs/apps on iPads

I have an older iPad and a new (2019) iPad Air, I wish to be able to delete certain apps/photos programs etc on older iPad without affecting the same apps on new iPad Air?

How can I do this without losing anything, my iPad air, the iPad will then be used by daughter?

Some people say online it will work fine, others say you lose same from both.

iCloud is used to back up automatically on both at present.

Thanks for any help.

First and foremost, you shouldn’t share your AppleID between users. As such, you would be well advised to create/use a separate AppleID for your daughter; assuming your daughter is a minor, this can be taken care-of when creating the new AppleID.

Next, before giving the old iPad to your daughter, it is recommended that your prepare the old iPad:

Be aware that this process will remove all your data from the old iPad - and not from your iCloud account.

You may also wish to consider setting-up Family Sharing if the older iPad will support it. This will permit sharing of any Apps purchased between AppleIDs registered to the family account:

Depending upon the age/model of the old iPad, you might now find it difficult to find Apps that are still supported - particularly if the installed iOS version pre-dates iOS11. Some App developers are now aggressively withdrawing support for older iOS versions.
