Apple TV and too many authorized devices

I deauthorized the extra devices - my phone shows 2 authorized - and Apple TV + still says there are 5, no matter what I do. Suggestions?

If you still have a computer with iTunes, then

View and remove your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support

This document talks about a maximum of 10 devices, though. The list might contain devices that you no longer have.

You can also dis-associate on each device, but iTunes could do so centralized.

When I use the Apple TV menu for "AirPlay and HomeKit" and try to access the "Room" to designate location of the Apple TV I get an "iCloud Required" message "AirPlay 2 and HomeKit require an iCloud account". I am indeed logged into iCloud on the Apple TV. Its a 4th Gen Apple TV. all my devices are up to date. all my devices are on the same network. my icloud account is added to the Apple TV and I am the default/primary user. I have icloud keychain and 2factor auth enabled already. I can see my Apple TV listed under my devices in my icloud account.
