Ethernet connection for macbook air, 13 inch, 2017, is it possible?

Hi, I have a question. I am blind, but never the less I work on and fix computers for a living. I often times do clean installs of Mac oS to troubleshoot problems I'm having, even just to restore the computer to default settings using internet recovery. However, I have a problem. When you first start internet recovery, you get a screen that says, choose a network. Because I am blind, I have to be able to use voiceover in order to use a mac, without voiceover I would not be able to use the computer at all. The problem is, voiceover doesn't work at that screen in internet recovery that says, choose a network. Because of that I cannot choose the network because voiceover can't tell me what is on the screen. I was able to remedy this problem with my old macbook pro from 2011 because it had a built in Ethernet port. But the macbook air does not. I tried purchasing the usb to Ethernet adapter, and tried using an Ethernet cable with that to see if internet recovery could recognize that it was connected, but it didn't, it still said, choose a network. The only reason I know all of this is because my Mom, who is sighted, told me that's what was happening. Well anyway, I did some more research, and I found a Thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, and I wanted to ask before I bought it, would that adapter work for internet recovery? Would it recognize the Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter that is connected and automatically start downloading the recovery software from the Internet recovery server? Again, I'm only asking this because that would bypass tha choose a network screen, which voiceover does not read, and I wanted to ask to make sure it would work before I buy it. I have a macbook air, 13 inch, 2017. I have already provided feedback to apple about this, they really need to think about integrating voiceover feedback in that part of the EFI firmware. Thanks in advance.

Just to clarify my previous post:

The Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter will work just like the USB to Ethernet Adapter. Neither adapter will require any user intervention once you initiate Internet Recovery Mode assuming the respective port works and you have a good network connection to Apple.

We use that adapter for booting all our Macs into Internet Recovery Mode, NetBooting, and Diagnostic Modes. In fact we use that same adapter combined with an Apple USB-C to Thunderbolt Adapter to boot the USB-C Macs as well since we've had problems with the third party USB-C to Ethernet Adapters.

We have used the Apple USB to Ethernet Adapter to boot Macs when the Thunderbolt ports were not working. Make sure to try both USB ports. I've found the left USB port on MacBook Airs tend to become blocked by the USB port's ground shield so perhaps the adapter is not fully inserted. The right side USB port on a MacBook Air is connected directly to the Logic Board.

Also try a PRAM reset. Hold the PRAM reset for at least three chimes so it activates several times.
