New Ipad, can’t get MSNBC app to wor

I have the msnbc app installed on my new ipad, but can’t get it to play. It says to sign in to my provider but doesn’t send me to a page to do so. So, I went to safari and signed in to my provider (Spectrum). When I go back to the msnbc app all I see is a grey screen with an arrow. Nothing happens when I touch the arrow...assume it’s a “play” arrow? Help please!
