Watching wmv files attached to emails

I would like to watch the wmv files emailed to me as attachments on my iPhone. I loaded "WMV Player" app but it is requesting the directory of where these files are kept. Does anyone have a work-a-round to access wmv files emailed as attachments on the iPhone?

iPhone, iOS 4

I just checked the info about this app via the App Store, and I found now indication that the app provides for viewing WMV files sent as an email attachment. This was copied from the developer's website.

Browse your favourite websites using the app’s fully functional web browser – if the website contains video files, click on the video you want to watch – and if the video file is in wmv format the app will download and play it through the iPhone’s media player - its that simple!

There is no workaround for this. WMV is a Microsoft closed proprietary format. Microsoft formally provided and supported a Windows Media Player app for OS X on a Mac, but they discontinued doing so many moons ago. To view WMV files received as an email attachment on a Mac, or video provided via WMV on a website which isn't very common in my experience, you need to download a 3rd party player called Flip4Mac.

Since Microsoft doesn't support Windows Media Player with OS X on a Mac and hasn't for a very long time, I doubt they will be providing a Windows Media Player app via the app store for an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Unless Flip4Mac decides to do this, you won't be able to view WMV files sent as an email attachment.

Guys you can view wmv attachments if you are running iOS 4 or higher. All you need is to install "O player" from the app store. Then go to mail and open the attachment with "O player". The video should work and if it didn't play automatically then go to O player and tap on file- my documents- inbox, you'll find the video and you can play it normally. The same applies on the iPad .

I'll add my vote for OPlayer as well. It's a standard iPhone app, and the free version works fine. The first time I played a video from email, I had to select OPlayer from a list of apps. After that, it showed up automagically. Once in the OPlayer, the video showed up in the "My Documents" file location, under Inbox (at least that's what it did for me).

I have only tested it with .wmv's, but it is supposed to be able to open multiple formats.

Hope it works for you!
