A 2011 iMac is a 10 year old device and cannot run current versions of Mac OS. As your post is not clear on what is needed by you mini recorder I would recommend buying a new Mac. The only hardware updates available on your iMac is to upgrade the RAM and to replace the HD with another larger capacity HD or to install a SSD. However again, considering it's age I would spend the money towards a new computer.
