Ipod Classic

I have an iPod Classic and when I recently plugged it into my computer to sync it, all the music was wiped from it. Now it's got a software 'loading' on it and no music. I did a hard restart on the iPod but nothing changed.

Help!

See Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community. What are your HDD stats? If you're on a Mac it might be trying to check the health of the drive in the background, which can make it unusable until it is done.

Unfortunately I can't even get to the settings. I just have a blank when I plug it in, with 'loading software' and nothing else. Any other suggestions?
