MID 2015 MBP 15" USB Port issues - followup from Nov 2019 posting

Does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation for this...
I'll be checking youtube again this evening as I just purchased a used mid2015 with theses issues and I think I recall that someone in the UK might have troubleshot this to a component issue on the main board. Will be going to Apple store tomorrow / Wed 1/22/2020 for a battery recall issue to replace the battery and will have them look at the USB Ports at that time as well. - Stand by..
Mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15" USB intermittent USB charging issue with iPad Pro 10.5"
I use the iPad Pro 10.5" with a Mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15" as:
- a second display via Luna Display - requires a USB or WiFi connection.
- an external audio device using IDAM - requires the iPad to be connected to the laptop via a lightning cable.
However, the mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15" intermittently breaks the USB connection with the iPad Pro 10.5". This means the 2nd display frequently disappears and has to be reconnected once the USB sorts itself out - if it sorts itself out. And it's a similarly big problem with IDAM. This USB charging/connection function is extremely unreliable.
The same issue sometimes/often occurs if I try to charge the iPad via the laptop's USB port. The iPad's charging icon flashes on and off in time and beeps. It's really annoying.
To counter the obvious replies:
- My cable is an almost new official Apple cable and is in excellent condition (I've tried many cables);
- The MacBook's system information indicates that enough USB power is being supplied to the iPad;
- The internet seems to be full of reports of this same issue only with this particular model of MacBook Pro;
- The iPad works/charges flawlessly over USB with my 2011 iMac...;
- SMC resets does nothing.
- I found an online help suggestion to use a terminal command to quit the 'usbd' process that stops the flashing but it also stops the iPad from charging. Not really a great solution.
Apple or friends of Apple - why is this happening and what is the solution?
