MacOS Catalina > App Store freezes and hangs while starting

At some point (didn't notice if there was some specific update or any other event that happened before) I could not open App Store any more. I have tried everything I have found on the net - emptying caches, resetting network, changing date, signing in and out with my Apple ID, booting in safe mode - nothing works. Any ideas how to troubleshoot what is causing this?

I am on 10.15.2 MacOS Catalina

Sounds like you have already done a lot of great troubleshooting to resolve this, so awesome job there! I still want to share the link below with you just to make sure no steps there were missed as this addresses steps to take to resolve connection issues with the App Store.


If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services


If you're still having this issue after those steps, I would also like to have you test in another user account. You can see how to do that here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Hey elviskv,


Thanks for testing that out in another user. I definitely don't want you to have to log into another user to access the App Store. Knowing this behavior doesn't occur in another user helps get use pointed toward a resolution. Do you recall downloading any apps prior this behavior happening? Are you using any security/virus software? If so, are you able to disable that and then test your access to the App Store again?
