IPad message app won’t open

Hi I have an iPad which has the latest software installed. I have tried all things suggested in various google searches to fix why the message app on my iPad won’t open and crashes to home screen.

i have restarted, reset settings, wifi on/off, closed the message app, iMessage on/off, signed out of iCloud and signed back in but no luck. You can reply to the message on the locked home screen but can’t open on the app. Any ideas?
