Sharing Location

In the “Find My” app, under the “Me” section, the “Share My Location” app is switched to On. I think this was the default setting, but I’m not sure. Does this mean that anyone with my number can see my location, or do I still have to approve individual requests for people to see my location.

Separately, is sharing your location with someone the only way to request to see their location?
