I can't wear in-ears coz they hurt too much and I loved the fit of Gen 1 (mine broke after after 1.5 years). I'm not sure whether to just get the Gen 2 or to wait for Gen 3. Is there a possibility they would announce them this March during the launch event? Any thoughts?
AirPods Pro are in-ear but they don't have a piece of plastic shooting down the center that enters your ear (like most in-ear headphones have)... Only the soft silicone part goes in. Take a look at how unique the tips are on the AirPods site on the shop.

Honestly they are much more comfortable and offer the benefits of in-ear headphones but feel more like a traditional Apple earbud. Like a hybrid. Try them out in an Apple store demo.
