Requiring passcode or Face ID when iPad is locked?

Hi,

I am trying to make it so that you need to enter a passcode or FaceID to unlock my iPad. I have "Immediately" selected in the Face ID & Passcode section under settings, 2 minutes selected under "auto-lock" in Display & Brightness...yet it seems that when I close my cover and lock the iPad, it still does not require Face ID or a passcode when I want to unlock it. It just says "swipe up to unlock" and unlocks right away without any security measure whatsoever.

How do I fix this? I don't want randos to be able to unlock my iPad. Thanks,

Lucy

Hello,

Face ID can detect your face nearly instantly giving the illusion that it is not scanning your face. Try giving your iPad to someone else to see if they can unlock it or try covering up the True Depth Camera system on the top of iPad’s display.
