When I try to buy the app in the App Store it tells me that I need at least macOS 10.13.6. My computer is from 2017, I cannot believe it is already too old/slow to buy Logic Pro X. Can´t I buy a previous version that works with my computer?
You have a 2017 Mac... so upgrade the operating system to High Sierra (10.13) or Mojave (10.14) DO NOT upgrde to Catalina (10.15)! As WD said is not the computer it's the Mac operating system. Once you upgrade the operating system you will be able to purchase Logic. Do Not upgrade to Catalina.
Logic Pro X is not an upgrade from GarageBand. It is just another application from Apple.
To get Logic Pro X you simply open the Mac App Store app, login, search for Logic Pro X and purchase it.
Comme back here if you need more help,
WD
Ah I forgot that.
It is not your computer, it is the version of macOS. Yes, the Mac App Store saids you need 10.13 for the most recent version of Logic. Usually the Mac App Store, when you click Purchase, will propose the latest version of Logic compatible with your macOS version.
WD
That's odd. macOS 10.12 is not that old. Other users were able to download a compatible version only few months ago.
Just for the sake of helping other users in the same situation, can you post a screenshot of the message?
Thanks in advance,
WD
Thanks,
The screenshot would have been useful to see if there was any button to skip the message. As per your answer, it seems it is not the case. Thanks for your collaboration.
Your next option is to plan to update to a more recent macOS version.
I just saw the post from Pancenter. Follow his advice: Do not update to Catalina! High Sierra or Mojave is fine.
If you need help for that, do not hesitate,
WD
You can find many posts in this forum about problems with Catalina and Logic. There are unresolved audio issues with Catalina among other things. Then there is the compatibility with third party hardware and software.
All this will be resolved but better to wait for now.
WD
thank you very much.
my thread is still not posted.
I have GarageBand.
I want Bossa Nova loops.
I am thinking of getting Logic,
just to get loops.
any thoughts about that?
mods if I am breaking the rules, by hijacking this thread,
please delete my post?
thank you.
Hello, I have this question as well, and upgrading the OS is not an option. I bought a Mac mini to leave set up at home because I have a couple of old FW interfaces that I use for the 32 channels of optical inputs and they will absolutely not run on 10.13 (tested and verified). So for me to go to 10.13 means spending around 2 grand for new interfaces just to reproduce the exact same I/O functionality I already have. I use LP at work and would like it at home due to the advanced MIDI capabilities in the Environment, etc.
If anyone knows of a way I can buy a version of Logic or LP that runs on 10.12, I'd sure appreciate hearing it.
Unfortunately this is not the case. I get a message saying that I need at least 10.13...
The message just says that Logic Pro X cannot be installed because macOS 10.13.6 or later is required.
OK, thank you both for your help!
hi, I'm new here.
I posted a thread, but it has not appeared yet.
I was just wondering why you say don't upgrade to Catalina?
Then you didn't post in this forum, or your post didn't follow guidelines, when did you post?
There is some bossa loops in Logic, not many. A couple of the "Drummer" patterns could also be used.
I posted yesterday.
thank you for your reply.
and maybe I won't get Logic, since there are not many Bossa loops.
