Every time I try to make a new note or update an old one it dose not save. When i close the notes app and open it back up there are no notes, I make a new one close the app and open it again there is no notes. Please Help, Thank You.
Absolutely! I have this same issue and thought it wasn't just saving until I noticed something very strange.

etc for 9 holes. Once I'd finished I opened the note to check them all and they were all there. I started transferring them onto the golf card and suddenly they all disappeared except for 3 at the top!
Same thing is happening to me - randomly. Some note updates "take" and some disappear. I have an iPhone 4 with the 4.0.1 update. Today I did a restore in iTunes and magically the changes that were "lost" in my notes re-appeared. But it was short lived - now it is back to "forgetting" most of the updates I make.
I have the same problem, the only way to save your notes after typing it, is to transfer all notes to a email account. To do this go to setting > Mail, Contacts, Calenders > scroll to bottom select "default account" under notes. (**YOU MUST HAVE A MAIL ACCOUNT SET UP ON IPHONE, ALSO under Accounts same selection as 'Mail, Contacts, & Calenders', select the email account you want to sync notes to by selecting on or off)> then select the email account for default. Once this process is done and you create a new note make sure you are under that email account to create a new note.
All notes will sync straight to email account, even its lost on your iphone.
Same thing happening to me. One-way sync with Google Apps/gmail IMAP works ok in that making changes to notes appear in IMAP. However they subsequently get lost from the iPhone! not every time, but seems to happen when you really needed the lost note!! if you make a fast change and hit "Done", then do it again, the change disappears as soon as the wifi icon stops spinning.
Help! Any resolution on this problem?
Having same difficulty with Notes not saving on iphone4. Noticed that this problem is common on jailbroken phones, but mine is straight Apple. On modded phones the problem seems to relate to a corrupt notes database. Sounds like normal phones can have their databases corrupted as well.
I have had the same problem since the last update, and I have searched for answers all over the net. I found the solution that worked immediately, and it's really simple.
You have to stop your Notes from syncing with ITunes.
1. On your IPhone, go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Your email account tab> Turn the Notes setting to off.
2. In iTunes click the info pane and deselect the option to Sync Notes.
This will makes the notes function again until Apple comes up with a fix.
when I turn off Sync notes on the Iphone, more than half my notes disappear. turning it back on causes them to re-appear. Sync notes in itunes is off (and always has been) Help?
Yep, chalk up yet another reason for me to move to Android - if only I didn't have a long contract! Every update that Apple makes appears to make my 3GS worse!! I'm sick of it.
3GS now drains its battery overnight, notes don't sync correctly and are overwritten randomly.....and that's after me having to swap my original 3GS (which worked perfectly for a whole year on OS3!) as I couldn't make a phone call for over 5-10 mins!!

Where exactly did you find the sync notes option?
I have a 3GS with 4.0.1 and Exchange.
I have 3 accounts on my iPhone: Gmail, POP3, Exchange.
All my notes are on the Exchange server.
The only place I find the sync notes option is on the Gmail account, but that's not where I store my stuff...
