My existing iPad 2 needs replacing. Is it easy to transfer info. from that to a new iPad air

You won't be able to use the Quick Start method as that require iOS 11 or later and you can't update your iPad 2 to that, but the other two methods would work. See: Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
