For some reason I cannot get my weather channel app to open on my iPad Pro. Why?

It has a different look and doesn’t seem to do as much. For instance, I could keep 8 to 10 different locations that I access frequently on file and the new app only allows 5. Plus this new app comes with ads that cannot be avoided.
I cannot get the weather channel app to open on my iPad Pro.
This one? If so, it was crashing on my iPad as well. I have since deleted and re-downloaded it. While it is the same app from the same developer, it now has a different look.
