Rotate text in table cell

There os an option "rotate" where on could specify the angle. But it's greyed out!! I want just one line of text in a slim column, aka header.

The only place where text can be rotated is in the labels along the axis of a chart. (This is supported in Numbers, but I haven't checked Pages charts.)

Your choices with a table are to place a Text box (which can be rotated) in front of the header cell, or to enter the label in the cell as a 'stack of characters, using option-return to force each character onto a new line.

Turning on Wrap text in cell, and making the cell wide enough to show only a single character works to do the same thing, but unless you are using a mono-spaced font will show more than one character on lines where two or more narrow characters are present. And this solution is not practical where the content of the column is wider than a single character.

Barry
