Facetime in Europe

I am working in Germany. Telekom says I will be charged for using Facetime with iphones back in the States. Is that true when using Cellular Data? When in Wifi only. There are not current questions about this on this forum. Thank you!

The information that your carrier (Telekom) provided you is accurate and it is practiced worldwide. When you use cellular data then it goes against your cellular data allotment. When you use WiFi then you are not going to be charge for cellular data (because you are not using cellular data when you are on WiFi). Note that it does not matter whether the other person is using cellular data or WiFi. It is all about which medium YOU are using (Cellular or WiFi). Hope this helps.
