Other users file taking up too much space

The other users file on my iMac takes up around 260 GB of space. Is there any way to clear some of the files in there?

Hello, Suhit1729.

Yes, it is possible to clear the files of Other Users so the disk space is freed up. It involves deleting any user accounts that are no longer needed on the machine. If you do this, those accounts will not be accessible any more. If you are the only one who uses your Mac then you can continue on here. You must be using an Administrator account to do this.

Before you start, make sure you have an up to date backup of the computer, either with Time Machine to an external drive or use another backup option like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper!.

To delete unused User accounts, start by:

• Clicking Apple menu > System Preferences > Users & Groups.

• Click the padlock at the bottom-left and enter your computer password to unlock the panel.

• From the list on the left side of the panel, select the User account that you would like to delete, then click the (–) minus button below the list.

•When prompted, you will select Delete the home folder. This will remove the user account and delete the home folder of that user which will free up the disk space that was being used.

That's really all there is to it. If you look again now at your disk usage you should see some amount of extra drive space has been made available for your use.
