I currently have OS Majave but I'm trying to download a software that requires OS X. Are they the same thing? Do I have to update in order to download the software?
P.s. I'm specifically NOT ready to update to Catalina yet due to Adobe software restrictions with the update.

You have gone as far as you can go unless you want Catalina. Ignoring point updates, here is a list of OS X names and numbers.

From the Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app copy and paste:
sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored
(please note your psswd will not echo on screen—type it in anyway to proceed)
relaunch System Preferences>Software update
