My iMac from 2010 won't start up

My iMac from 2010 won't start up and I can only hear the fan start to blow. I did a little research and all I could find was that maybe it is a battery or graphics card issue. I cannot find the serial number so I cannot contact apple, Help!

The serial number will be on the underside of the pedestal foot.

But you may as well not bother with that because any 2010 iMac will be considered vintage and way out of warranty at this point.

I suspect you are correct about the battery. It's more likely the culprit than the GPU in a machine this old, but I know the GPU on some of those era iMacs were problematic.

Short of disassembling the iMac to replace the battery, you might try these things first.

Reset NVRAM or PRAM

Reset SMC

Restart in Safe Mode
