Unwanted Songs Won't Stay Hidden

I'm running the latest versions of MacOS and Music and have an annoying issue I never dealt with before.

Does anyone remember when U2 gave everyone with an iTunes account a free copy of their Songs of Innocence album? I keep hiding those songs, but now, every time I add a new one to Music, they show up in my main playlist again. I don't want to listen to them and there's no way I've found that will make sure they stay hidden, and I would rather not have to deal with "deleting" them every time I expand my music library. Please tell me this is just a bug that's going to be fixed soon, or that there's at least a way to get around it.

Hello MysteryGirl22,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand you are having problems hiding a specific U2 album.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the playlist in question. To be sure, we’ll want to ensure the following steps are used to hide the album in question:

  1. “On your computer, open the Apple Music app.
  2. In the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, click Account, then click Purchased. (If you use Family Sharing, you might see Family Purchases instead of Purchased.)
  3. Click Music at the top of the window, then click All. All of your purchased items appear.
  4. Find the item that you want to hide. Hold your pointer over the item until the hide purchase button appears. Click the hide purchase button.”

Then, let’s check for the same behavior when you add content to your Apple Music library. If the behavior continues, I’d recommend creating a new playlist.

Please feel free to reply and let us know how it goes.

Have a good one!
