How to re-enable power management protections?

My iPhone 6S had replacement battery fitted Nov 2018 by AppleStore. Now Jan 2020 and battery Health is showing 87%, last week it crashed from about 20% and the Power management Protection kicked in. Thinking this was a one off I disabled it.

This week it crashed from 40%, so I assumed (as it says on the Apple info page) the Power Management Protection would be re-applied and I would leave it enabled now. But it hasn't been reapplied and I can't turn it on! The phone restarted and showed 10% and as soon as put on charge recovered quickly to 40%.

Observations.. The battery fitted by AppleStore has lasted significantly less time than the original and I now have no way to get the power management back. Just to show the state I attach a screenshot of the battery charge when it crashed

Help. I want to keep the phone until 12 comes out. it is updated to ios 13.3.1 public release.

As mentioned in the section "Performance management Applied" from: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

"Note that if you disable performance management, you can’t turn it back on. It will be turned on again automatically if an unexpected shutdown occurs. The option to disable will also be available."

Sorry, not helpful as I pointed out, I disabled power management on the first crash, and subsequently had another crash due to battery not delivering power. The power management was NOT automatically reapplied. And yes I have read all the linked articles and understand how it SHOULD work. But it doesn’t work like that.
