Numbers 1-9 don't work in Macbook Air

This morning the number keys 1-9 on my Macbook air just do not work, neither when using caps lock. ALl other key board is working as usual, I read about similar problems and have tried the advise but stays the same (unticked Enable Mouse Keys, checked that correct keyboard is installed, etc.) When opening keyboard viewer, key 1-9 works but when I press on my laptop keyboard, they do not appear in keyboard viewer as working. Any ideas, tips what to do?
