Apple ID can't change email

Hello Apple Masters,

I log into my Apple ID with mailaddress A (Netherlands). A few years ago I made a second US Apple ID with mailaddress B. I deleted this account last year so I could use mailaddress B as my standard mailaddress for my standard Apple ID, because my current mailaddress would get inactive from 01-01-2020.

Now I can't change my mailaddress from A to B, if you can still follow me.

Probably because it was previous linked to an old Apple ID.

How can I (or Apple) fix this?

There have been posts by people who have contacted Apple Support and they were told that if you delete an ID associated with the address, you can never reuse the address. You will need to get another e-mail address to use as your Apple ID.
