Safari Catalina doesn't support Selenium capability acceptInsecureCerts : true

I'm trying to run Safari Selenium tests against a local installation of a self signed certificate web site. I get the error:

Capability 'acceptInsecureCerts' could not be honored.

acceptInsecureCerts is a part of the W3C spec I'm curious as to why it is not implemented? Is there a safari specific setting that will disable the self signed certificate check?
