The original iPad isn't compatible with iOS 6 and above.

You can’t.
iOS 5.1.1 is the farthest iOS version that iPad can go.
This nearly 10-year old iPad, when first released in 2010, was really waaay underpowered and only got one year of iOS upgrades/updates from Apple.
It has a clocked down 1.0 Ghz CPU and a paltry 256 MBs ( NOT GBs ) of RAM and just did not have the computing horsepower to run any newer iOS versions.
