I have an older MBP and a smaller Dell monitor. I simply use the mirroring option (System Preferences > Displays). Have you tried that? According to the screenshot of your monitor connections, you have a USB C cable. Or, try whatever other ports you have on your MBP.
Okay, kdlovesapple, maybe I can help you.....
There isn't one. There is no Mac driver for your monitor. Basic Support for it is built into the OS , and that's it. I checked today, and the only thing listed is for Windows 10, which we don't have. Half of it is with Apple, and Half of it is with Dell. Dell says "We don't support Macs, if they work, OK, if not, oh well." and Apple says "well, it should work, technically, it's a computer monitor after all, but it's up to Dell to fully support it on the Mac". So that's where we are with that. There is a work-around to force RGB on your Dell monitor, and to get it to play nicer with your MacBook pro....2018????
here it is: (part of it)

not an easy fix, but I'm sure that if you persist, you can fix it....eventually
