I received an email saying my Apple ID has been locked and then if I did not unlock it within 24 hours my account would be disabled. This is the first time that this has happened so I want to make sure that this is not a scam

  • Apple does not send such messages.
  • Apple would not warn of a pending account issue, giving you a deadline to fix the issue.
  • Apple does not include document, or PDF files to download.
  • Apple would not refer to you as Dear Customer, Dear Client, or anything other than the name on file for your account.
  • Apple would not have such horrible spelling or grammar.
  • Apple would not send a message to “Undisclosed Recipients”.

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message, as an attachment to Apple.

Apple does not make such calls.

All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.

I received a phone saying Dear Customer saying this was Apple Support and telling me to contact Apple Support because my IP address and I cloud account had been hacked. Stating We do go security to remove the hacker before using my Apple device. Telling me to please contact my Apple advisor. The call came from 1 800 275-****. Its true or false.

Thanks,

Alice S.
