Macbook Pro with Mojave doesn't recognize ethernet connection

My MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3) just does not recognize ethernet connection about 90% times. On a random day with good luck, it works fine for a few hours and then stops again. Is there a way to find out what the problem is ?

I have read a few posts where people are complaining about this and its good to know that I am not the only one. Can anyone suggest any diagnostics ?

Since your MacBook doesn't have an Ethernet port, the problem might be anything except your MacBook.

-On your router/modem, power off/wait 30 seconds/power back on.

-Next, try a different ethernet cable and plug it into a different port on your router.

-Plug your USB-C to Ethernet adapter into a different port on your MacBook.

-Finally, try a different Ethernet adapter. Apple lists a Belkin one on their website, so that has probably been tested by Apple. There are a lot of cheap generic ones out there that don't work well or you might just have a defective one.
