premium subscription but no premium content

I bought the premium subscription to an app today, but the premium content is still locked. I went to delete and reinstall, but chickened out when warned all data will be deleted. It’sa diet app I’ve used for years. How do I unlock the premium content now that I’ve purchased the premium subscription, without losing any existing data in the app?

I understand you upgraded your subscription for an app to premium today, but the content still shows as locked. If you have not already done so, try quitting the app and restarting the iPhone to refresh it and reestablish a connection to the internet. If the premium content is still not showing within 24 hours, you may need to contact the app developer, since they control the data in your account with them.

How to contact an app developer - since you have been with this app developer for a long time, ask if their software provides a way of archiving or backing up your data.
