Hey dgoto,

Open the Music app while holding down the Option key. You'll get a little pop-up asking you to choose a library or create a new one. Select the new-library option. The Music app should now display a brand-new greeting page and a clean library.

Now there are a number of ways to import your music collection. My method of choice would be to drag the whole media or music folder (wherever the files are physically located) into the folder called Automatically Add to Music. You can also just drag the folder or folders into an open Music app window, or select "Import..." from the File menu.

Before you do that, have a look in Music/Preferences/Files and adjust those settings to determine where and how your new library will be set up.

Cheers

I have moved all my music to a different drive and also made sure the music files are not assigned to Music and also deleted all ilt data files from both drives. The problem now is I still have music files in Music app which I can't seem to clear out. Any ideas?

I want to do a clean import into music fom the alternative hard drive. But first I need a clean App. Any help would be great appreciated With Itunes I could just uninstall the software and start over. But I don't know how to do this now.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I see how with your directions I am building a new profile and giving the folder a new name. It is importing now. So still have another question. How can I do a mass delete of all of the old data in my music folder? When I have tried do remove everything it only allows for a mass hide not delete?

Looking around online states there is a way to change the rule from hide to delete but I could not find this setting. Finally there still seems to be a lot of songs data that I want to clear out from previous imports. I have done my best to try to delete it with no luck. Where is it hidden in the cloud or a cache file, I have turned off the cloud connection and no sysncing but it is still there. I have the music files in a second folder for importing but before I dod I want it to be clear of old data. THanks For your time Don
