Infrared Receiver Control in Catalina

I'm probably missing something obvious, but I'd like to pair my Apple remote with my Mac mini.

Since I could't get the pairing to work by holding down the remote's right and menu buttons, I checked in with the Apple help (https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/mac-help/mchlp2930/mac). It told me to turn on my IR reception:

The only problem is that when I go Security --> General --> Advanced, the 'disable remote' option doesn't come up:

Is there something I missing here?

Thanks.

What year model Mac Mini do you have?

Pretty sure the internal IR receiver was dropped in the 2014 and 2018 Mac Mini’s, so you need to use a external USB IR receiver like the MIra. see > https://twistedmelon.com/mira/hardware.html
