Adding workout to Apple health

Hi I am trying to add workouts to my Apple health. If I add say an hour hockey workout manually it will not close or add any time to my activity ring. Now if I do the exact same thing but do it as a “other” workout it will count as a workout and close my activity ring. I’ve tried other activity’s and it’s the same thing. Will log the workout but not count towards the exercise ring closing. Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or if there’s a different way to log it. I don’t wear my watch while I play as I don’t want to break it.

What you say is correct, the idea of adding a workout to the health app is to keep your health records up to date as the health app is the hub for your fitness records in general.Sometimes people forget to wear their watch but they want to keep their workout totals up to date in the health app,the activity app is a separate entity where you achieve and win your award badges and close your rings,to win an award badge or close your rings it has to be done in the activity app and as you have found out there is no way around this as this could be seen as a form of cheating.

So basically if you don't wear your watch when working out then you can't close your rings or win any award badges.
