My AirPods will connect to my mac, but the sound comes from the computer, not the AirPods

I keep trying to connect my AirPods to my MacBook Pro, but every time I do, the sound continues to come from the speakers on the computer. I have reset my AirPods multiple times, turned bluetooth on and off, clicked "forget device" and then reconnect- and no luck. Also, after a few seconds (sometimes minutes, it varies), they say they disconnect. Sometimes the connecting chimes sound through the AirPods, and sometimes they don't - same with the disconnecting ones. They work perfectly with my phone, so I think it's an issue with my MacBook. It has been about 2 weeks of this happening and I don't know what to do now.

Hello,

Hmm, I guess that it could be wireless interference. See this:

If the sound from your wireless headphones cuts out or is distorted

Good luck.
