can i download garage band on iMac os x el capitan version 10.11.16

Sorry, no. The App Store is currently offering only GarageBand 10.3.4, and it requires at least macOs 10.13.6 or newer.


The predecessor to GarageBand 10, the good old GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 would be able to run on your Mac, but you can only download it from the AppStore, if it is already in your Purchase history at the AppStore. If you previously used GarageBand, check the fourth tab "Purchases", if you can see GarageBand in your purchases. If yes, click "Install".

There are iLife '11 installers offered at Amazon or eBay, but do not waste your money on them. They will install older versions, that cannot be updated any longer. Apple removed the updater to GarageBand 6.0.5 from the downloads page, after the certificate expired.
