Apple News + and subscribed magazines

If I am subscribed to a magazine through its publisher, can I read it in apple news without having to subscribe to Apple News +? If so, how do I access the magazine In Apple News?

That is what I expected but it is not the case. I get an Apple News+ logo that offers “Read 1 month Free and then auto-Renew at $9.99 per month to Apple News+.” I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find a way to log in. I’ve thought of getting through the Free Month to see what happens after that; but in addition to having to go through the hassle of canceling an auto-Renew, I somehow don’t think that will work. I’m already logged in to my magazines in Newsstand, and I was hoping Apple News would see that, but it doesn’t. Some of my Newsstand magazines are recognized by Apple News as subscribed and others are not.

That’s my conclusion, as well. I have 2 or 3 magazines that were recognized as Subscribed long ago, before Apple News+ existed. Three of my other subscriptions, however, appear, along with the many other Unsubscribed publications, and have no way of access through Apple News unless I pay. I guess I’ll just continue reading them on Newsstand and hope they’ll update for Apple News at some point. Thanks so much for trying to help me with this frustration!

When I tap on News+, I get the follow options:

A) Try 1 month free

B) The following Category choices in a horizontal scroll: Browse the catalog; Featured; Business & Finance, Cars ....

C) Several article headers displayed vertically on the page

All the above options offer the following:

”Try 1 month free” with the qualifier that ”the plan will auto-renew for $9.99/month after trial until canceled.”

This is the case on my iPad Pro 11” running iOS version 13.3.1. The same is true on my iPhone X running iOS version 13.3.1. Some of my magazine subscriptions do show up as subscribed, but several others do not; nor is there anyplace in Apple News that gives me the option to log in to them. I’m logged in to all my subscriptions through Newsstand & can read them that way, but cannot read them in Apple News +. It’s puzzling....

What I’m trying to explain is don’t select News+ (that requires a subscription). Select Today, and in the search bar key in the name of the magazine you’re looking for. On the magazines that aren’t showing subscribed, deep press on it (in the left side bar) and an option should appear about subscribing or already a subscriber.

I hear you, but this is all I get, no matter what I do:

As you can see, there is nothing that gives me the option to log in. I really appreciate that you’re trying to help me and don’t understand why my system is different from yours. Logic definitely says I should be able to find a Subscriber Log In somewhere, but I’ve tried everything I could think of and everything you’ve suggested. This is the same on my iPhone X, as well. Are you running the same iOS as me? I have the latest update, but recent earlier versions were no different.
