don't have apple id or password for iphone
I updated my dads iPhone but now that the down load is done its asking for password and my dad doesn't know it. doesn't know his apple id as well

You stated the you do not know that iPhones Apple ID at all. This will be an issue. You will not be able to activate that iPhone without this information. If you reach a point where you cannot reset/recover the Apple ID then you will need to take your dad, the iPhone and the Proof of Purchase of the iPhone to an Apple Store and have them activate the iPhone.
