Facetime on iPhone XR (iOS 13.3.1)

Why is it that when I am using Facetime, my iPhone XR switches to my Mobile Network even if my WiFi connection signal is strong?

I noticed this behavior after updating to iOS 13.3.1

Hello Jet-iP5s,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that your iPhone XR switches to cellular during FaceTime calls, even though your Wi-Fi connection is strong. I can see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

If you haven't already, try restarting your iPhone. Restarting can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, test while connected to a different Wi-Fi network. If Wi-Fi still disconnects during FaceTime calls, Reset Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings.

Let us know the results. Please include any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a nice day!

Jet-iP5s,

Thank you for trying the suggested steps and following up. If this issue occurs with multiple Wi-Fi networks, reinstall iOS with a computer. This step can resolve possible software issues. When reinstalling iOS, the current version will be removed and a fresh updated version will be installed. It's important to make sure that you have a recent backup before trying this step.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Use the steps in the link below to reinstall iOS:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!
