Does Apple TV (3rd generation) support a wireless WPA-3 connection?

I installed a new router and used WPA3 as my WiFi encryption. The Apple TV sees the network, but will not connect to it after I enter the password. I have tried about five times and I know the password is correct. The error that I get is not specific. All it says is "Unable to connect to [network name]" and then it goes back to the list of networks available. Maybe it cannot handle the new wireless standard?
