Connect iPad or iPhone to ethernet

Can i connect an iphone to ethernet with just the lightning to ethernet cable if i have a PoE router, instead of using all the extra stuff from the 'hack' method?

Connecting an iphone to ethernet I'm trying to connect my iPhone XR and iPad (which both have lightning connectors) to an ethernet cable. Lightning to ethernet adaptors aren't available but I can buy a lightning to USB C connector and USB C to ethernet connector. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried connecting these together and whether it works i.e. whether I can get wifi free internet access this way. TIA
