Unauthorized screen sharing through unauthorized VPN
While sitting at my desk, not using my computer, apps open, screens change, my picture was taken, and I'm not touching my computer. See below:
1. Found Apple Mail running several times and I didn’t start it.
2. Found Apple Mail and Outlook sharing a split screen. I don’t know how to do this. I use Outlook predominately.
3. Found five apps and files open (quicken login screen, bank login screen) when I started using the computer. No one in the house had tried to open these items.
4. While not using the computer, I saw Apple Mail start up but I didn’t touch the computer.
5. While sitting at my desk, not using the computer, I noticed my iMac switched to the secondary screen. It looked like it was “swiped to switch screens” but I didn’t touch the mouse.
6. While not using the computer, I heard the camera “click sound” but I didn’t take the picture.
7. Finder always comes up after every boot with a big window. I never use this window and I never ask to “reopen windows when logging back in.”
8. After a boot, it takes 15 – 20 second delay before I can move the mouse or enter a password.
9. Thursday morning (1/30/20),
a. I noticed the WiFi network was not available three times within a five-minute span. I assumed the cisco router was rebooting several times in a row.
b. Immediately afterward, the delay at boot was not on my computer. I rebooted my computer several times that day without having the 15 second delay.
c. That afternoon, I purchased and installed Intego antivirus software.
i. Two apps and associated files were quarantined and deleted
1. MapsAndDirections-1934599.app
2. Track Your Packages.app
d. I left the computer on overnight. The next morning, I logged on and the Computer was locked up with a message about a “kernel trap”
e. I rebooted the computer and received a screen with a power button icon as the background which said “Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue starting up.” This was stated in six different languages. I have a photo of this screen.
f. After I rebooted, the 15 second delay was back.
g. The “computer restarted” message has reoccurred several times since then. It usually occurs after I reboot the computer, never after an automatic restart, as the message implies.
I have purchased a second iMac and later reloaded a factory load and these anomalies still come back.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
