Caller ID only displays UNKNOWN without a number

How to fix caller ID. Calls coming up as unknown and no number displayed

It shows UNKNOWN caller because the caller is hiding his/her telephone number and your iPhone therefore cannot match an UNKNOWN caller to a name in your contacts file.
