When I download movies or audio recordings where are they stored and how do I access them to watch or hear my download?

How to add movie to my ipad on different computer without losing songs? I keep my ipad organized using my desktop computer. But when I travel I use my laptop, which doesn't maintain the same music library as my desktop. I want to add movies to my ipad from my laptop without losing the songs on my ipad. Any suggestions?

Where have you downloaded from? If it is an app look inside the app.
