If I try to pair these devices I always receive the same error “pairing unsuccessful ipad pro is not supported” that’s from iPhone to iPad.
And “pairing unsuccessful make sure iPhone is turned on in range and ready to pair” that’s from iPad to iPhone.
I can’t find anything on the internet or on the Apple forums about this so I’m hoping someone here can help :)

This is not possible due to iOS and iOS device security and privacy features/issues.

I have recently joined Netflix and have downloaded a lot of series/movies and while most of the time I intend to stream them over an HDMI adapter to a tv I was hoping I might occasionally be able to stream from my iPhone to the iPad?
I thought this would be possible over AirPlay but it appears not?
