Painful..My Iphone X displays message that this iPhone cannot set up Face ID, what is the problem with this

For some reason my Face ID on my iPhone X doesn't work anymore. I shut my phone off to try to reset it and when I power the phone back on I get the following message "Unable to activate Face ID on this phone. What is the problem and how do I reactivate the Face ID on this phone.
